Ledger Announces Support for Arweave's AR Token on Nano S and Nano S Plus Devices
Leading cryptocurrency hardware wallet provider, Ledger, has announced the addition of support for Arweave's native token, AR, to its Nano S and Nano S Plus devices. The announcement was made on the official Ledger Support Twitter account.
The integration means that users of these Ledger devices can now secure their AR tokens using the Arweave feature on the Ledger devices. While AR support is currently only available for Nano S and Nano S Plus users, Ledger promises that support for the Nano X device is on the horizon. No mention of Ledger Stax was made.
To set up and store AR tokens on the Nano S or Nano S Plus devices, Ledger provides a simple, easy-to-follow guide on its website. The process involves creating an Arweave account through the Arweave Web Wallet.
It’s worth noting that the instructions mention going to the “Experimental features” section in settings and activating “Developer mode” to then proceed and install AR support on your device.
One user questioned Ledger on Twitter about the safety of the feature, due to the experimental status, to which Ledger replied:
Yes it's completely safe - the app will be soon pulled out of dev mode so you can wait until then or start using it immediately.
However, the more skeptical may want to wait for the feature to fully exit dev mode so that the token support feature can be installed in the same fashion as other tokens are.
Many users and projects from within the Arweave ecosystem showed their enthusiasm for the news on Twitter, including members of Sarcophagus, ArDrive, and also Nader Dabit - Director of Developer Relations at Aave and Lens Protocol.
