Gitcoin’s Grants Stack Set To Be Tested In A Two-Weeks Grants Beta Round Programme
Gitcoin has said it is launching Grants Beta Round intended to continue the testing of its decentralised grants protocol as well as experiment with a new feature on the grants stack.
The Beta Round which is set to run for two weeks between April 25 to May 9 is comprised of core rounds decided by GTC token holders and community members, Gitcoin said.
With the Gitcoin Grants Beta Round, we are taking a significant step toward our vision of a decentralised and community-driven grants ecosystem. With the transition to Gitcoin Grants Stack, anyone will be able to launch and manage their own programs the same way we manage ours at any given time, Gitcoin stated in an announcement.
The thematic rounds in the grants Beta round stage include climate solutions grants with $350,000 DAI matching pool for projects that help reduce greenhouse gases or serve as infrastructure for Web3 climate solutions; Ethereum infrastructure grant with $200,000 DAI matching pool for project directly advancing the Ethereum ecosystem; Web3 open source software grant with $350,000 DAI matching pool for projects advancing the broader Ethereum or Web3 industry. Along with these, ZK Tech grant with $150,000 matching pool for projects that promote zero-knowledge tools; Projects that have 50 percent of its team members reflecting the diversity of the communities they serve are eligible to take part in the DEI grant with $50,000 matching pool.
Featured rounds are operated by external parties, Gitcoin said, adding that the round which it will be experimenting in the Grants Beta Round can be likened to its legacy ecosystem rounds.
We believe showcasing more rounds alongside the quarterly Gitcoin Grants Program as one cohesive event will create network effects that benefit all communities involved, Gitcoin stated about featured rounds.
Rounds in the featured rounds category include, Decentralised science, which is operated by DeSci community stewards; Advocacy, an invite-only round operated by Coinbase which supports projects pushing for responsible regulation and legal clarity for the blockchain community; Metacrisis; Token engineering; Greater China, Web3 Social; Sybil Resistance.
The second stage of the testing round comes following the success of the Alpha Round which ran early this year where 200 grantees working Open Source tech, Ethereum Infrastructure and Climate Solutions were gathered to take part and give feedback on user experience for Gitcoin Grant Stack.
The Beta Round continues this test as we progress towards this exciting new future of Funding What Matters in a collaborative and decentralised manner, Gitcoin stated.
