The third "Singapore Arweave Asia 2024 Conference" successfully concluded on September 19. This year’s event was the largest ever, gathering official teams, project leaders, and builders from the Arweave and AO ecosystems.

The conference focused on several key topics and brought numerous major announcements. As the excitement from the event lingers, let’s revisit the highlights you won’t want to miss.

Arweave 2.8 Update

Sam, the founder of Arweave & AO, provided a comprehensive overview of the protocol and ecosystem, announcing the upcoming Arweave 2.8 update. This update focuses on optimizing performance and enhancing the user experience, making it more efficient and user-friendly.

Key Updates in Arweave 2.8:

  • Lower resource utilization: Resource consumption reduced by 75%, lowering energy and storage demands.

  • Larger drives: Now compatible with higher-capacity hard drives, boosting data storage capabilities.

  • Faster on-boarding: Simplified process for new users, improving overall user experience.

AOS 2.0 Release

AOS, AO's decentralized operating system, allows developers to launch command-line processes similar to smart contracts on a decentralized network. Tom unveiled the new AOS 2.0 at the conference, featuring several key improvements:

  • Receive() method: Similar to JavaScript's await, this simplifies code and message handling.

  • Streamlined message handling: New message.receive() and message.reply() functions make sending and responding to messages more efficient.

  • Handler upgrades: Supports more parameters, limits execution count, and introduces Resolvers to reduce conditional logic.

  • New features: All messages now require an Authority Tag, os.time support has been added, and the code editing experience has been enhanced.

Overall, AOS 2.0 boosts development efficiency and code readability.

Greg Showcases AO Applications

Greg, founder of Longview Labs, showcased multiple AO applications, including AO DevBot, which enables users to develop easily on AO. He also highlighted the top 3 projects from the India hackathon:

  • aoVest: token vesting;

  • Veritas: stake for project funding;

  • Convergent: trade perpetuals.

Additionally, Greg presented three AO games—Whac-A-Dum, Hyperstax, and Rainbow Rabbit—and offered gifts and rewards to attendees participating in the game competition.

ArConnect Mobile Launch

Tate, founder of Community Labs, introduced the highly anticipated ArConnect mobile wallet. As the most popular wallet on Arweave and AO, ArConnect has continued to iterate rapidly. The mobile version now allows users to access Permaweb applications more conveniently.

FusionFi Protocol Release

Outprog, founder of EverVision, announced the launch of the FusionFi Protocol (FFP), a unified financial framework based on AgentFi. This framework standardizes interactions between DApp Agents and enhances interoperability in gaming, social, and financial fields.

Through the FusionFi standard, various DeFi functionalities such as swaps, lending, futures, and stablecoins can be constructed. Independent transaction logs ensure secure trading. An open-source example is available on GitHub, and users can experience order book and AMM functionalities on the Permaswap platform.

Atomic Notes Launch

Tomo, founder of WeaveDB, unveiled Atomic Notes, a decentralized social platform. Running on AO, it allows data, licenses, and smart contracts to be stored as atomic assets on Arweave. The platform automates profit-sharing and copyright distribution and provides SDKs and APIs for developers to build applications. Integration with ArNS and social timelines enhances user control over content.

AO Game Jam Contest Results Announced

The first AO Game Jam, hosted by AO Games and Forward Research, attracted 83 teams and 43 submissions.

The winners are as follows:

  • 1st place: Dumverse

  • 2nd place: DumDumUp!

  • 3rd place: Hang Out

Special awards:

  • Best Gameplay: AO Craft

  • Best Art: AO War

  • Best Programming: BazARmash

  • Best Performance: CasinAO

Outstanding Teams include Happy Farm, DimensionLife, Yalla Jamei, AO Classic Blackjack, and Ninja vs EVILCORP.

PADO Launches First AO-based zkFHE Network

Fubiao, co-founder of PADO, discussed how the company leverages Arweave and AO to advance data privacy and computing technology. PADO launched the first zkFHE computing network on AO, combining Fully Homomorphic Encryption (FHE) and Zero-Knowledge Proof (ZKP) technologies. This ensures secure and efficient data sharing while enabling scalable and verifiable computing on Arweave.

AR.IO Announces Key Updates

Although AR.IO's decentralized gateway project could not attend in person, team representative Andrew shared several important updates via video. ArNS registration and management have become more user-friendly and now integrate seamlessly with ArDrive, simplifying file management and access. Additionally, Turbo introduced a feature allowing users to top up credits without logging in and optimized the CLI for developers, offering more flexibility. tIO token reward activities were also prepared for attendees.

Arweave Oasis Showcases Results

Gerry, founder of Arweave Oasis, presented the "Journey to the East," sharing the team’s vision and plans for expanding Arweave in the Asian market. He also showcased the achievements of the Hyper Parallel journey, which involved visits to six cities—Shanghai, Hangzhou, Tokyo, Beijing, Shenzhen, and Taipei—and hosted a series of in-person events to promote the Arweave & AO ecosystem.

0rbit Releases Token Economic Model

Lucifer, founder of the decentralized oracle project 0rbit, provided an in-depth overview of the project framework and officially released the economic model of its native token $OR. In addition, 0rbit is searching for a mascot to enhance the brand’s uniqueness and identity.

Apus Network Announces TGE Plans

Apus Network, a decentralized GPU network built on AO, had its Developer Relations lead, Mateo, introduce the project’s core philosophy, architecture, and token economic model.
