Pianity Connects MetaMask’s Users To Arweave With Snaps

Pianity is tapping into Snap, a software by MetaMask that allows the integration of the Ethereum wallet with non-EVM blockchains, to give Ethereum users access to Arweave-based applications and help Arweave dApps reach a broader Web3 audience.

Pianity, a music non-fungible tokens platform operating on Arweave, announced on Wednesday that it was partnering with core developers in Arweave to release Arweave Wallet as a Snap on MetaMask, following MetaMask's Snap launch.

“This integration will empower millions of MetaMask users to seamlessly access Arweave's decentralized storage network directly through their familiar MetaMask Interface,” Pianity stated.

The growth and expansion of Web3 have made it necessary for applications and protocols in Web3 to create a bridge where their users can easily use other applications that could meet their needs. ArSnap creates a bridge where Ethereum users seeking decentralised storage could easily use Arweave applications that offer it without needing to directly open an Arweave wallet address.

Kevin Primicerio, Founder and CEO of Pianity, emphasized that projects would thrive with increased blockchain interoperability.

“With this MetaMask's Snap, we're making it incredibly simple for users to interact with dApps on Arweave, enhancing access to decentralized storage and true ownership of digital assets like NFTs,” Primicerio said.

With ArSnap, Metamask users can sign Arweave transactions, and manage Arweave Wallets and other functionalities. Pianity said that the system is secure and gives users complete control of their assets.

Sam Williams, Founder of Arweave and CEO of Forward Research (Arweave's research and development arm), expressed that the integration is excellent news for MetaMask users, as it makes Arweave more accessible.

"The permaweb on Arweave unlocks the potential of a truly disintermediated internet: a world of neutral, protocolized information infrastructure that guarantees users’ rights," Williams said.

For the Pianity team, ArSnap is the “first stone to the Arweave Wallet dApp”. In future upgrades, the team will add functionalities that enable management of AR token transactions and viewing of AR balance; manage dApp interactions with the Snap; and manage permissions assigned to these dApps. Pianity will be adding features for users to view their assets including NFTs.

Pianity’s ArSnap was one of the 34 Snaps MetaMask whitelisted after undergoing security audits. MetaMask is the most widely used Ethereum wallet. The Snap is a JavaScript application executed in an isolated setting designed to customize its wallet interface. Official documentation states that A Snap can introduce new API functions to MetaMask and provide compatibility for various blockchain systems or could alter functionalities using JSON-RPC API.

The Arweave ecosystem is seeing a trend of projects in the wallet space making big moves. The newly launched Othent enables web2 users to access Arweave dApps by using their Google login details.
