#1 Never Have I Ever Tried: ArDrive Valet
ArDrive offers permanent and decentralised storage, making uploading to the Arweave Permaweb easy. Using ArDrive is a simple way to interact with Arweave, allowing anyone to seamlessly and easily get up and running.
Now, with the introduction of ArDrive Valet, uploading to Arweave has become accessible to even the least tech savvy individuals.
ArDrive Valet makes it easy for anyone to get their files on to the Permaweb. This includes NFT creators!
So, whether you are an NFT artist, have your own business that needs its records archived, an educator or researcher documenting your findings, or just a parent who has thousands of family photos in need of desperate backup, this is the know-how guide to using ArDrive Valet for you.
Let’s dive in!
Step 1: Asses the situation
This may seem like an obvious step, but the truth is that the first thing you need to do is assess your current situation. ArDrive Valet is a tailored service, meant to help those who really need it. Before contacting ArDrive about their Valet service, have a look on the ArDrive website to see if using ArDrive is something you can manage solo.
If not, let’s crack on!
Step 2: Gather your data
First, before contacting ArDrive, you will need to gather all your data into one place. For example, if you are looking to upload family photos, the best thing to do would be to organise these into folders on your local machine. Or, if you are creating a digital NFT project, best thing to do would be to gather all your images and meta data files into one place too.
Once you have everything organised it’s time to move on.
Step 3: Visit the ArDrive site
Simply visit the ArDrive website here.
Navigate to the “Valet” section as seen in the image below.
Step 5: Read through and fill in the form
Once you are on the Valet page, this is your opportunity to read through everything that the service will offer you.
As mentioned on the page, you will see that the ArDrive Valet service will help you:
- Upload hundreds to thousands of files to the Arweave network though ArDrive
- Move files from Amazon Web Services, Google Drive or anywhere else and put them on permanent storage
- Create a manifest to tag and organise all the headings and metadata of your files
- Set up your crypto wallet
- Organize your files into Drives
Once you are happy with everything that is mentioned on the page, it’s time to fill in the form and make it official.
Scroll to the bottom of the page, and fill in your details. You’ll need to fill in your name or handle, the best way the ArDrive team can contact you (e.g. your email, your Discord username, your Twitter handle etc.), click the box most relevant to what your project is about, and lastly – write a description of your project in order for the ArDrive team to understand your needs a bit better.
Step 6: Follow up with the ArDrive team
From here on out, the ArDrive team will contact you with any further steps necessary.
If you would like to get a brief understanding of what the next steps may be, then check out the process that ArDrive followed in order to get blue chip NFT project CrypToadz onto the Arweave Permaweb.
