ArDrive 2.0 - Enhanced User Interface, Expanded Free Uploads, and Many New Features

ArDrive, a leading player in decentralised storage built on the Arweave network, has just unveiled ArDrive 2.0, a significant update to their web and mobile applications. The ArDrive team shared all the details with us, and we are excited to report that the platform now boasts a multitude of new features, including a sleek, modern Dark Mode—a feature so essential it deserves a headline of its own!

Here's a quick rundown of the new features in ArDrive 2.0:

  • Refreshed user interface

  • Dark mode

  • Usernames no longer needed for login

  • Share page now includes image previews

  • Drag n' drop multiple files

  • View transaction on ViewBlock from Details Panel

  • New sidebar

  • Easier file multiselect

Over 1 year in the making, ArDrive is releasing 2.0 - making it easier than ever for users to exit the cloud and take back full ownership of their wallets, privacy, and digital data. ArDrive's suite of web and native apps are already enabling 10,000+ users (and counting) to securely save, manage, and share their photos, files, and documents - by leveraging the power of a pocket blockchain. With the release of 2.0, big feature updates will be coming fast and fierce from here on out. So stay tuned. This is what web3 utility looks like - Thiago Carvalho, Lead Engineer at ArDrive

The updated user interface is not only visually appealing but also more intuitive and easier to build on and iterate. With this update, ArDrive has also increased the free uploads limit from their previous 100KB to 500KB for all users, making it even more accessible to newcomers exploring the platform without needing to worry about obtaining Arweave's native token AR (that is normally used to pay for gas/storage fees on Arweave). To start using ArDrive, all that's required is an Arweave wallet.

Often referred to as a decentralised Dropbox, ArDrive offers much more than just file storage. With ArDrive, users can permanently store NFT images and metadata, host static websites, and even launch decentralised React apps. This versatility sets ArDrive apart from Dropbox and traditional cloud storage services and positions it as a powerful solution for various Web3 use cases.

Acknowledging their commitment to the permaweb ecosystem, ArDrive also allows users to choose their preferred version of the app. Earlier this year, they began storing the older versions of ArDrive on Arweave's permaweb so they could be forever accessed by anybody.

And if you don't know what to upload but want to try out ArDrive and Arweave, ArDrive's public drives, created by users worldwide, provide a wealth of content for those looking to explore the platform. Examples include 51 Books in the Public Domain, Apple Daily's last issue before the Hong Kong pro-democracy newspaper was taken offline, and Ros McMahon’s Movie Collection – a compilation of copyright-expired movies.
