AOS, the decentralised operating system of AO, now supports SQLite to ensure effective data storing and retrieving, the hyper-parallel computer announced.
Being a relational database, SQLite helps to organise data for smooth storage and retrieving. This function makes it possible to build fullstack applications on AO by using indexers for rapid queries.
SQLite would be very beneficial to applications that require complex data management, AO stated. You can design your database schema to support your application's specific needs, from simple key-value pairs to relatively complex relational structures, AO emphasized.
Sam Williams, the CEO of Forward Research said AOS support for SQLite was a big step, and the next thing to be built is “64-bit WASM, so that it will be easier for users to make those trustless databases -- and the AI agents that work on them -- enormous. Soon”.
outprog, who is one of the founding fathers of AO and the founder of everPay which is the leading exchange protocol built on Arweave, described that SQLite function in AOS as “a great step forward” adding that the database is embedded in AOS, which allows unhindered application development.
Regarded as one of the most frequently used databases in the world, SQLite is a C-language library that implements a small, fast, self-contained, high-reliability, full-featured, SQL database engine. SQLite is built into all mobile phones and most computers and comes bundled inside countless other applications that people use on daily basis.
AO is designed to offer an environment in which an arbitrary number of paralelle processes can be resident, coordinating through an open message passing layer.
